Laing & Buisson (Consultancy) Ltd specialises exclusively in the health, community care and childcare sectors within the UK, with a primary focus on independent sector activity.

Client organisations which commission Laing & Buisson can benefit from the company's unique access to market intelligence within these sectors as the publisher of 'industry standard' market reports, its understanding of the key market, political and regulatory issues, its top-level contacts and its unrivalled database of information, much of it originally researched by Laing & Buisson.

What can Laing & Buisson consultancy services offer you?

Laing & Buisson consultancy services are provided through a multi-disciplinary team of six senior consultants plus research and support staff. Capabilities include economics, marketing, finance and general management consultancy - backed up by several years of successful consultancy experience by each member of the team.

Enhancing Value for Money

Increasingly social care providers are being required to deliver and demonstrate that they are delivering greater value for money. This means providing excellent quality, personalised service and support, so as to deliver superior outcomes, whilst ensuring that support is delivered economically, effectively and efficiently. In an environment where financial constraints are severe there is, at the same time, a need to recognise resource constraints and to prioritise support needs, so that provision can remain financially viable. Our advisory services help social care providers to address all key components of value for money.

Costing and Pricing

Providers need to be much smarter about understanding their costs and how they vary, so as to identify savings where possible, as well as to justify fee levels, in negotiations with commissioners, and consider the implications of cuts for financial viability.

Cost-Effectiveness and Efficiency

There is an imperative to explore all possible areas for achieving economies and efficiencies, but consideration of cost-effectiveness and quality of service, and its inter-relationship with cost and efficiency, is more demanding.

Quality, personalisation and better outcomes

Personalised planning is key, but it is the translation of plans into daily actions, which are followed through by support staff, to deliver the desired outcomes for individuals in practice, which is more demanding and critical for success. (see attached descriptions of these complementary services).

A Core Costing Model has been devised to support ‘true cost of care’ calculations, which facilitates answering the key questions above, and this is being made available through Laing and Buisson. This modelling system, as well as a number of further modelling developments planned are described on a separate note. Training assistance is provided to enable providers to understand how the models work and how they can be used in these different applications.
